Eastern Chapter Unit - Philadelphia and surrounding areas

The counties of Easter unit also known as PUPCA comprises of Bucks, Montgomery, Philadelphia, Delaware, and Chester. Mailings are sent to all AMTA members within 4 weeks before each meeting.

The unit held it's first meeting at the University of PA in the fall of 2001.

Typically, two meetings are organized each year, one in the fall and one in spring, meeting in different locations throughout our geographic area. The format includes networking and lunch followed by a short

unit meeting and a two hour education.

2008 Spring Update

The New Year began in great spirits as PUPCA gather on January 6 for its
delayed fall meeting and continuing education workshop. Unit Chair Peter
DiOrio presented four contact hours of Ethics and Professionalism for the
attendees.

The Annual meeting was a source of great ideas this year in particular with
VerticalResponse.com a popular item of discussion. Look for much more
contact from your Unit Officers via this great internet application, help us to
grow our network by encouraging your colleagues to send their contact info to
peter@massagearts.com in order to “opt in” for future Unit updates.

Member Trish Isaak has been nominated to become the next PUPCA
Secretary; her term will begin in early February and last two years. Trish
is filling the vacancy left by one Ms. Vanessa James who rose to the
occasion filling the treasurer position on the PA-AMTA State Board. Vanessa
served PUPCA for the past year and both the members and Unit officers
wish her the best of luck. We’re rooting for your continued success Vanessa!

2007 Spring Event

The PUPCA Unit met Sunday April 22 at the Massage Arts Center of Philadelphia, for their Spring meeting  Unit Chair Peter DiOrio conducted

the meeting of over 20 Unit members. Vice-Chair Michael Marzelli and Secretary, Vanessa James assisted in giving feedback from the previous

meeting and asking the members present what services,  information,  and/or programs the PUPCA Unit might provide in the future.

Eastern District Representative Joanne Mengel discussed the status of the Licensing Bill, and how AMTA Members can assist in its passage.

All members participated in a luncheon and discussion.

Peter then introduced Pat Mayrhofer, President of Nature Stones, who then provided the group with

her Therapeutic Hot Stone seminar. It was an enlightening and interesting day for all the Pupca Unit members who attended.

A Message to all unit members:

We, as the PUPCA unit officers, strongly encourage all therapists in our area to attend the next AMTA PUPCA Unit Meeting.  The stronger

we build this organization, the more we will all benefit in our wonderful profession as Massage Therapists.  It’s always great to be around with other

therapists at these meetings.

The support, encouragement, connections and knowledge received from you fellow therapists are priceless and very much worth the investment of

setting aside 3 to 4 hours of your time to attend an AMTA local chapter meeting.  Look for more information about the fall meeting which will be posted

on the website and email loop.

We also encourage any feedback and ideas that any member may have for any future meetings.  Let’s all work together and help build Massage Therapy

to the level it deserves.
